DC Bar Exam Results from July 2022 Released!
A Look at the Statistics
The District of Columbia Board of Law Examiners has released the bar exam results from the July 2022 test takers. The overall pass rate was 74%, with a total of 1,108 candidates having passed out of the 1,493 who participated in the exam.
The passing rate was higher than the previous July 2021 exam, which had a passing rate of 69%. This is the highest the passing rate has been since the July 2019 exam, which had a passing rate of 76%.
How Did Different Groups Fare?
The pass rates for different groups of test takers vary. The highest passing rate belonged to first-time takers, with 79% passing. The passing rate for repeat takers was 66%.
The pass rate for graduates of the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law was 78%. The pass rate for graduates of other law schools was slightly lower at 73%.
What Else Can We Learn?
The DC Bar Exam results also reveal some interesting gender-based statistics. Women had a higher pass rate than men, with 78% of female test takers passing, compared to 71% of male test-takers.
The passing rate for racial and ethnic minorities was also higher than the overall pass rate. African American test takers had a 76% pass rate, while Hispanic/Latino test takers had a 77% pass rate.

The DC Bar Exam results are just the beginning for those who passed. They now need to complete the remaining steps to become a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia, including applying for admission to the bar and completing the character and fitness process.
